I’ve become totally intrigued by the gardening concept of square foot gardening via raised beds vs. the traditional row gardening that we were taught by our parents and grandparents. I loved the idea of raised bedding and the benefits it offered with less weeds to tend to as well as the compact rotational schedule due to seasonal harvesting. Instead of harvesting 15 -30 cabbages as in row gardening, I found that I can just plant say, 2-3 plants with the square foot concept in the raised bed And with that raised bed, it allows for much better usage of garden space in the yard. Mel Bartholomew’s All Square Foot Gardening is an excellent how-to read for more info on the concept. Give it a go and see what you think!
